How does your service support whānau?

The health and wellbeing of uri and others within the rohe of Ngāti Whātua has remained a key focus for the Rūnanga and as the iwi health provider, Te Hā Oranga continue to make significant improvements to the services we provide to our communities.
We follow the sacred obligations of Te Runanga o Ngati Whatua when providing services to whanau -

Mana Ngati Whatua
We provide health and social services to all whānau within the rohe of Ngati Whatua, providing mobile nursing, tamariki Ora, mental health and addiction services, Rangatahi and education services.

What do you think gets in the way of people contacting you for support (what are their fears and concerns)?

Knowledge of what and how we deliver services and ensuring they are in line with what whānau need and how they need it to be delivered, lack of trust for the health system and sometimes lack of resources.

What surprises people when they do start working with you?

That everything we do for whānau is free of charge and how understanding we are of what whānau need.

What results have you seen in your work with whānau?

Improved health outcomes for whānau, increased numbers of whānau who are able to live clean and sober and an increased cultural connection for many whānau.

Can people self-refer to the health centre?

Yes
